#TeamMindshare believes in Empathy, Energy and Impact. As we adjust to working differently, we're continuing to empower people to challenge the status quo and drive Good Growth for our clients and the industry. Growth isn’t just a flash in the pan, but it’s enduring, diversified, and more sustainable over time. We’re proud to be unmistakably #TeamMindshare, and make it the place where we do the best work of our career, grow and have fun. Hear from Terence on how he's adapted, what his biggest learning is and how he stays inspired.
I had a manager once tell me that the best way to job security was to learn how to do the things he didn’t know how to do. That might have been a cheeky bit of advice in the moment but more seriously I think that we work in such a dynamic and broad industry that it is very wise to constantly keep an eye open for new areas of development and really focus on building a strong understanding if it’s a subject that really inspires. An emerging topic or channel just might turn into your area of expertise one day.
I would say that last year was about perspective for me. 2021 obviously saw a lot of change with the roll out of the vaccines and the ability to start to socialize (sparingly) and reconnect in person with people we’ve been separated from for months. I think all of those reunions really helped remind me how important it is to be able to enjoy those simple joys of sharing a meal with a group of friends or play soccer with your nieces and nephews.
I’ll call my system blocking and breaking. I found that when we were all working fully remote, the number of meetings really increased and I would make it to the end of the day having sat through a dozen meetings but with very little work to show for it. I try to build in a certain number of blocks throughout the week in order to ensure I have time to properly catch up and focus on work. Similarly, scheduling in work breaks are vitally important for maintaining some balance and letting my mind have a breather. Thankfully my dog is very structured when it comes to her walk schedule so I’m guaranteed a break at noon to take her out.
I really have to attribute a great deal of my inspiration to my colleagues and team. I’ve been very fortunate during my time at Mindshare to be surrounded by brilliant and inquisitive minds who love to collaborate and constantly raise the bar.
