5 minutes with Natasha Stockton

Hear from Natasha on how she's adapted, what her biggest learning is and how she stays inspired.

What is the biggest learning from your career?

Realizing you have an impact no matter where you sit.  Something  one of my mentors said to me that has stuck with me throughout my career is “That you always have a seat at the table and don’t let anyone make you feel differently.  Having a title doesn’t give you a seat that the table but providing your input and perspective does. No one can wipe away your fingerprints from the work you do.”

One word to describe the last year?

Exhausting.  

Everyone has had to continue to live their life while also adjusting the way they live their life and that’s a heavy load!  What’s helped me through it is having empathy and understanding that what’s has happened in the last year impacts all of us and we’re all handling it differently and because that well….  frankly, we’re all tired.  

Best advice you gave out about working remotely?

Actively engaging in self-care.  With the shift to remote work, it’s ironic how we’re even more accessible now.  It’s important for me to I block time to do something that isn’t related to work for at least 30 mins.  Also try to keep your work area separate from other areas in your home when you can.  It helps create the mental separation of where you work vs where the rest of life happens.

How have you stayed inspired?

Embracing the wealth of content that’s available.  I used to find it overwhelming (there’s too much prestige TV!) but now its exciting because I know there’s always something new to experience or learn from.
