Prendeville Moves To Red FM

It has been announced this morning that Neil Prendeville is to leave Cork's 96 to join Red FM. March 31st is the start day for both Prendeville's new mid-morning show and KC’s new breakfast show on the station. These appointments indicate a clear determination from Red FM to be number one in the Cork market.

Diarmuid O’Leary, CEO of Cork’s Red FM says “This is a very exciting time for Cork’s Red FM, we have recognised the serious talent that Neil Prendeville is, with over 25 years of experience and we believe he will make a massive difference to the radio station. Neil has a natural understanding of the issues that matter to Cork – he is always topical and evokes a strong response from listeners when he tackles issues head on”

O’Leary hopes that the new show will target a 25 year old plus affluent middle class audience to the station. While there is no doubt Prendeville attracts large listenership figures, with 60% of his audience over the age of 45, does his show really fit into a young vibrant station?

PJ Coogan has been drafted in this morning to take over immediately from Prendeville, who has now left the station after 25 years.
