NEW YORK— Mindshare today announced that Mary Carpenter will begin as Leader of Mindshare’s Chicago office later this month, overseeing a team of more than 175 professionals who manage media duties for a wide range of clients, including Kimberly-Clark, Abbott, BP, and Motorola.
Carpenter replaces Mindshare veteran Dan Reaume, who will move to a global client leadership role within the company, including managing the worldwide Kimberly Clark account. Reaume held this position for the past two years.
A highly regarded media executive, Carpenter joins Mindshare from Starcom MediaVest Group (SMG), where she most recently served as EVP, Managing Director at Halogen Response Media. As a part of SMG’s broader Performance Marketing operation, Halogen provides acquisition and direct marketing services to clients within the network, including Comcast, Bristol Myers Squibb, Allstate, Walmart and Avon.
“As our Chicago office expands, it is imperative that we have a leader with deep experience in agency management, communications planning and performance marketing at the helm.” said Antony Young, CEO, Mindshare North America. “Mary is precisely that person…a leader with vision that will guide the growth of the office while ensuring that we continue to deliver the most creative thinking and the most effective campaigns.”
Prior to joining the SMG Performance Marketing unit, Mary was part of the management team at Starcom USA, where she oversaw the agency’s relationships with Hallmark, Nintendo, Walgreens and Sara Lee, among others, and led various agency-wide initiatives. From 2001 to 2008, Mary led strategy and operations for SMG’s dedicated General Motors unit in Detroit.
Mary Carpenter says, “I’m happy to be joining Mindshare’s team at such an exciting time for the media industry, and for the Chicago market. Both are poised for accelerated growth and innovation, and I’m looking forward to partnering with the team and clients here to capitalize on these opportunities.”
